The Codex Open Source Fund is a $1 million initiative by OpenAI to support open-source projects that integrate Codex CLI or other OpenAI models. Grants are awarded in increments of $25,000 in OpenAI API credits, distributed on a rolling basis. Participants also gain technical guidance from the OpenAI team and ecosystem support to accelerate adoption of Codex CLI across diverse programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and Shell.
